Pacer now works with Google Fit Service

Pacer for Android now supports data synchronization with Google Fit service. Pacer users can now import their daily steps directly from Google Fit!

All new users can choose Google Fit Service as their primary data source when they first register with Pacer. Users who already have a Pacer account can link to Google Fit Service by following these steps:

  1. From the Home Screen of the app, tap the ⚙️ button
  2. Look for the button that says “Connect to Google Fit
  3. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to complete authorization and begin syncing data!

Why link with Google Fit?

Since Google Fit service is a system-level service in the Android operating system, it is able to count steps accurately and consistently AND with less battery drain. Pacer users should find that using Google Fit service as their primary step data source will increase step counting accuracy and consistency, and improve battery life as compared to other pedometer apps.

Users do not need to have the Google Fit app installed on their phone in order to link with Google Fit service. They do need to have Google Play services installed on their phone (Android phones sold in most countries generally come with Google Play services pre-installed).

Users must update to the latest version of Pacer for Android in order to access this feature.
